Insect updates

I was so pleased with that little caterpillar a couple of weeks ago. But the sight of 2 wasps hovering near the fennel worried me. A few days later, I realized I had not seen the wasps or the caterpillar again. I’m afraid the poor caterpillar is now food for future wasps.

More recently, I’ve spotted a new resident of the fennel: something I’m pretty sure is a katydid nymph: tiny and green, with banded antennae. Possibly Scudderia? It’s really cute, but way too small for a good iPhone photo. Or is it? This 2012 post by The Dragonfly Woman on iPhone photography has me looking seriously at Photojojo’s starter kit, with a macro lens.
