As I wander the Internet looking for information about pollinators and butterflies, I’m discovering how much we don’t know about the lives and requirements of the insects around us. A recent article in Entomology Today about the reintroduction of the Large Blue butterfly to the UK is a case in point. In brief, the butterfly depends, not only on certain plants, as is often the case with butterflies, but also on the availability of a specific species of ant. The butterfly, it turns out, is carnivorous.
